Augusta, Ga. (WRDW) -- A dozen runners from the CSRA are lacing up to run in this years Boston Marathon.

Many of those runners saying last years bombings didn't slow them down or scare them away from the sport.

Local runner, Dr. Michael Rogers, ran last year and is running again.

"You never know from one minute to the next what's going to happen in life," said Rogers, "I think too. you have to go back and you have to run again because we can't let the terrorists rule our lives."

More than 36,000 runners are expected to run in this years marathon. That's 9,000 more than last years number of entries.

Many of those runners, like Rogers, are heading back to remember what happened and pay their respects.

"I think it does is bring closure to the event," said Rogers. "Having seen so many people injured and having gone through the trauma of it I think that's what a lot of people are saying that it helps bring closure."

Other runners from our area include:

Spryng Bombicca
Laura Griffin
Cam McCarthy
Samuel Payne
Lj Sizelove
Amy Tisdale
Rebecca Smith-Pattillo

Abel Chavez
Alice Choi
Laura Salman

Barbara Rose
Craig Cooper
